The man arrested has been charged for the shooting death of a nine-year-old in Chicago Reports claim that he complained to neighbors about her being too loud.
Michael Goodman has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Then, you can murder someone. Chicago Police confirmed that Serabi Medina’s death was the cause of their investigation.
Goodman was reportedly upset by the noise, and confronted Medina’s father and the young girl before shooting her in the head on Saturday night outside of her house. ABC News.
Eyewitness News reported that Goodman, who was also shot by his gun, had to be tackled after the incident.
Goodman was arrested by police and taken to a local Hospital The condition was described as critical, according to Eyewitness news.
The police reported that “the offender suffered a wound from a firearm and was treated at a hospital in the area.” Police said that a weapon had been recovered at the scene.
The victim was taken to another hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
According to autopsy findings obtained by the forensic pathologist, her death resulted from a bullet wound in the head. The manner of death, homicide was determined. Chicago Sun Times said.
The victim and her father had been living on the block for about two years and moved to the Portage Park neighborhood after the child’s mother was murdered, according to NBC Chicago.
A vigil in memory of the victim was held on Monday evening.
Angee Gonzalez Rodriguez was NBC Chicago’s cousin to Serabi’s dad. She said, “How could you? You cannot kill a child.” “What was it that the child did to you?” I hope that he receives what he deserves. “I hope the book is thrown in his face.”
Goodman has to appear before the court for an appearance on bond Tuesday.
Digital has reached out to the Cook County Courts and the State’s Attorney’s Office for more information and has not heard back.
He has not entered a guilty plea nor obtained legal counsel.
