Iranian fans booed the national anthem and booed ahead of their World Cup match against England in Qatar.
The tournament ended without any players singing, a moment usually filled with national pride. They could face serious consequences if they return home after the tournament.
This comes at a time when many Iranians are protesting the government and oppression that is currently taking place in Iran.
Since the protests began, at most 348 protesters have been killed while 15,900 others were detained.
