The final message that UVA football player received before his death and 2 of his teammates were killed on a field trip was a heartbreaking one.

A father texted his son, a victim of the University of Virginia shooting, a sad final message shortly before his son was killed.

D’Sean Perry died in an on-campus shooting on Sunday evening, just hours after his father told him “keep on working”.

Devin Chandler and Lavel Jr., the football star’s team mates, were also shot to death by a gunman as their coach returned from a field trip.

Sean Perry stated that he texted him his son on Saturday after his UVA match. “Everything good sir? Just checking up.”

The linebacker responded: “Yea, you watched the game today?”

He messaged his son again the next day with some encouraging words. “Keep on working.”

His final message, which he sent at 11.17 PM local time, was read. “Yo good up there?” but D’Sean did not reply.

Perry’s father tweeted Tuesday: “I know my son was calling for help. I couldn’t help my son. I know he was calling somebody.”

He concluded that God has the final word. Rest easy, D’Sean [son]. It was an incredible journey. [but] amazing son.

“We always knew you were special & God lend you to us. You definitely finished what you started out to do.”

UVA has canceled Wednesday’s last home football game.

This happened on the same day that Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., a suspected shooter, was due to appear in court for his first hearing.

Police claim that Jones went with a group to Charlottesville’s campus for a field trip to see the Emmett Till play. Washington DC.

Authorities claim that Jones opened fire on the bus as it arrived back at campus. He killed Perry, Davis Jr. and Chandler, and injured two others.

Before executing three of his former teammates, he allegedly said the chilling words, “You guys are always messing around with me,” before killing himself.

Virginia football coach Tony Elliott said Davis was gentle but passionate, with a smile that lit up a room.

Perry was the coach’s favorite player. He was a committed player, but also a studio artist major who made clay pots, loved to draw, and listened to classical music.

Chandler, who was originally from Wisconsin, transferred to Virginia.

“He just was a big kid. Smiled all the time. Loved to dance. Loved to sing. Loved to compete, even though the guys revealed that he wasn’t very good at video games, but he thought he was,”Elliott said.

“But he loved to compete.”

Suspect Jones — who police have said was able to flee the shooting scene – setting off a manhunt and 12-hour campus lockdown.

He is now facing three counts of second degree murder, two charges of malicious wounding, as well as additional gun-related allegations.

Jim Ryan, President of the University, said Monday that authorities didn’t have a “full understanding”This is the motivation behind the shooting.

Documents filed in court so far in the case offer no further insight.

According to Carla Williams, Jones was a one-semester walking-on member of the football team in 2018.

In interviews, his father expressed confusion and astonishment and apologized to the victims’ families.

Eric Swensen (a spokesperson for the health system) said that one of the students who had been admitted to the hospital was released from the facility Tuesday.

Mike Hollins, a runningback on the team’s running backs, was admitted to a second surgery Tuesday by his family.
