Suella Braverman, the HOME secretary of Canada, challenged Prime Minister Harper in the presence of his cabinet over the plans to give thousands of visas for Indian students.

Rishi sunak told her that she did not want to invite more migrants after the arrival of 1.2 million UK nationals in last year.

Central Recorder revealed last week how the PM is gearing up to sign off plans for thousands more student and business visas ahead of a big trade deal with India — and told of their Cabinet split.

But on Tuesday, Mr Sunak told Ms Braverman he will push ahead to “benefit the UK for decades to come” — as he prepares the biggest trade deal since Brexit.

The G20 summit will be held in New Delhi, India this weekend. A deal could be signed in the coming weeks.

Insiders claim that a trade agreement with India would be viewed as an important personal project by the Prime Minister and demonstrate to him the advantages of leaving the EU.
