Strictly bosses deny claims stars threatened to quit BBC show over unvaccinated partners

BBC bosses have released an official statement after continuous reports of Strictly Come Dancing stars threatening to quit over Covid vaccination rows.

This follows reports that Strictly professionals said that they would rather quit their glamorous job than get the Covid jab.

Three professional dancers have spoken out in an anti-vax storm, stating that they would prefer to quit their job on BBC One than be jibbed.

Many critics have called on the broadcaster for vaccinated dancers to replace them.

It was also earlier reported some of the celebrities from this year’s Strictly line-up have been left furious after finding out their partners were unvaccinated.

A statement from the corporation said: “A lot has been written about vaccinations and Strictly in recent days.

“The BBC has never commented nor confirmed the vaccination status of anyone on the show. It’s not our place to.

“It is not the case that concerns have been raised with the BBC or the Strictly production team from dancers or celebrities about vaccination, or that they have threatened to quit.

“We have in place strict procedures to protect those on the show and the wider production. Among the many measures in place on Strictly, the dancers are tested regularly to be in close contact with their partners.

“The cast, crew and everyone working on Strictly are focused on this weekend’s first live show and delivering another brilliant series.”

Insiders to the pros have claimed that the unvaccinated dancers are staying firm in their decision to not have a Covid vaccination.

The news come after some former Strictly stars and Prime Minister Boris Johnson waded into the row that threatened to bring the BBC show to its knees.

A source told Central Recorder: “The three dancers have made their positions crystal clear — they’d rather quit than have the jab. They are refusing to comply with the growing pressure to get vaccinated.”

The publication was told that being vaccinated was not a requirement for the dancers on this year’s show, but the pressure is still increasing as other television companies have made this policy – but it is not yet at the BBC.
