Putin Ally Dies in the Latest Mysterious Death Of Russian Tycoons

According to local reports, a Russian tycoon has been killed after his top energy executive fell off a speeding vessel.

Ivan Pechorin (39), was the managing director for the Far East Development Corporation and Arctic Development Corporation. He was on Saturday sailing off Russky Island in Japan when he fell from the boat.

“Ivan’s death is an irreparable loss for friends and colleagues, a great loss for the corporation,”His company Statement.

Two days later, his body was washed up on the shore. Russian news outlet Baza cited an unnamed witness who claimed that Pechorin was drunk at the time he fell.

Just days before, Pechorin had attended the Eastern Economic Forum, hosted by President Vladimir Putin in the port city of Vladivostok.

Pechorin was the head of the aviation development at the energy and mining company. He is at most the ninth prominent Russian businessman to have died by suicide or in unexplained accidents.

Two of the largest energy companies in the country were represented by six of the six executives.

Pechorin’s death came eight months after Igor Nosov (his boss) died of a stroke.

On Sept. 1, the chairman of Russian oil giant Lukoil died after falling from a window of Moscow’s Central Clinical Hospital, according to the country’s state-controlled media. Ravil Maganov, 67, and his company, had been critical of Russia’s February invasion of Ukraine.

Alexander Subbotin (a former top Lukoil executive) was found dead at a Shaman’s home in May. He reportedly went there to get treatment for his hangover. Vladislav Avayev was a former vice-president of Russia’s Gazprombank. He and his 13-year-old daughter were killed in a murder-suicide.

Sergei Protosenya, a former deputy chairman of gas company Novatek, was found hanged in a villa in Spain in April. Alexander Tyulyakov, an executive with Gazprom, a multinational energy corporation based in St. Petersburg, was found hanged in his garage in February.
