Will Spider-WomanReleased before Spider-Man 4?

We now have a new rumor coming from the MarvelStudiosSpoilersSubredditLearn more about the Marvel-Sony partnership.

According to the report, Marvel requested that Sony keep away from three Spider-Man character that Sony owns. These are Black Cat (Kraven) and Spider-Woman(Jessica Drew).

Ryan Coogler really wanted Kraven to be used in the first place. Black PantherMarvel attempted to make a deal with them for the use of the character. Marvel fought hard to get Coogler access to the character for the sequel, they also fought hard to quietly kill Sony’s Black Cat-Silver Sable project. But, most importantly, they wanted to be allowed to introduce Jessica Drew to their 616 universe and include her in their new Avengers line-up.

In addition, the report states that these negotiations occurred around three years ago. Marvel may have made a deal with their Spider-Woman.

Sony owned Jessica Drew rights at the time of discussions while Marvel had Julia Carpenter rights. Julia Carpenter is a Spider-Woman character that later assumes the role of Madame Web. Marvel tried hard to convince Sony that they would swap rights on these two characters. We believe they succeeded, as we saw when the Madame WebThe movie was announced as replacing the previously announced Spider-Woman one.

We are not certain at the moment. But we do know that one of Marvel’s highest priorities in their negotiations with Sony, aside from making sure that they were happy with how the character of Spider-Man would be handled, was to make sure that they had similar control over Jessica Drew. Considering those negotiations were almost 3 years ago now, we would imagine that we could probably hear about Jessica Drew’s inclusion in a project sooner rather than later.

What if we know who Marvel’s Spider-Woman is?

If Spider-Woman/Jessica Drew sounds familiar when talking about upcoming MCU adventures, that’s because we already discussed her not too long ago.

According to rumors, Veranke will be played by Emilia Clarke. Secret Invasion series. That’s the TV show that hits Disney PlusNext year. We explained to them that Veranke is a Skrull princess, who orchestrates Earth’s invasion. One point she assumes the Spider-Woman’s identity.

We also noted that the rumor didn’t necessarily make sense, as Sony controls the rights for Spider-Woman. However, this report shows that anything is possible.

Does that mean Emilia Clarke will masquerade as Marvel’s Spider-Woman? But not so fast! We have conflicting reports about Clarke’s character. Instead of Veranke, Clarke might play G’iah, a different Skrull.

All these reports suggest Veranke could make an appearance in the MCU sooner rather than later, particularly if Marvel adds a Spider-Woman to its roster. These stories are still being told by Marvel.
