Earl and Me, and the Dying GirlCooke plays the role of the titular dying girl. From that point on, Cooke was an established actress who hasn’t struggled for work.

Now, Cooke is able to fulfill the dream of many actors: to appear as a lead character in a Steven Spielberg movie. Ready Player One is a peculiar movie in Spielberg’s portfolio. The film is set in 2045 and offers a glimpse into the future in which everyone lives their lives in virtual reality, in search for a prize. Cooke appeared alongside Tye Sheridan, Mark Rylance and Mark Rylance.

Ready Player One scored Cooke a few nominations, including one for the vaunted Best Kiss at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Sheridan and Cooke lost to Love, Simon. It was followed up by a completely different project. Sound of Metal. It could not have been more different for the Best Picture nominee Ready Player One, and it’s a masterclass in sound editing. Make a point of watching it; it’s incredible.
In House of the DragonCooke plays Lady Alicent Hightower. She’s the daughter of Ser Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King. In the premiere, a younger version plays King Viserys, who is grieving his wife. Emily Carey portrays her, and there’s some sexual tension between her and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. We can’t wait to see if she’s truly kind or harbors ambition all her own.
