The longest-reigning British sovereign was today’s most spectacular event in British history.‘s state funeral was held on Monday, September 19 and her body laid to rest in the King George VI Memorial Chapel.

The chapel is within St George’The Chapel at Windsor Castle is where the Queen will be buried with Prince Philip.

Hundreds of people came together to pay respects, and to see the procession. Many also wondered if King George VI Memorial Chapel was accessible to the public.

Visiting St George’s Chapel is included in your entrance ticket when you visit Windsor Castle. However, it is unclear whether the Queen’s burial ground will be open for viewing.

Windsor Castle is currently shut down as mourning continues for the Queen. Tickets can also not be purchased at this time.

When can you visit Windsor Castle in the summer?

Windsor Castle is usually closed on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. However, it is accessible for the rest the week between 10am and 5.15pm BST (last entrance time is 4pm).

St George’s Chapel is also open for visitors on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4.15pm (last entry is 4pm).

Visitors to the chapel aren’t allowed on Sundays as services are held but worshippers can watch the services, reports State.

Who is buried in Memorial Chapel?

Both the Queen’s parents, King George VI and the Queen Mother, are buried in the Memorial Chapel.

Prince Philip is currently in the royal vault. He will be moved so that the Queen can rest beside him at the Memorial Chapel for eternity.
