Her family confirmed that Loretta Lynn, an American legend in country music, had died at the young age of 90.
Lynn’s family shared the news on Twitter in a statement which Please read: “Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home at her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills.”

What was The Pill by Loretta Lynn all about?
The Pill is about contraceptive pills and the impact they had on women. The lyrics tell the story of a woman who has put up with her husband’s infidelity, but who is now threatening to go and have an affair too now that she can take the pill.

Lynn spoke to People after the song was released. magazine: “If I’d had the pill back when I was havin’ babies I’d have taken ’em like popcorn. The pill is good for people. I wouldn’t trade my kids for anyone’s. But I wouldn’t necessarily have had six and I sure would have spaced ’em better.”
Radio stations banned The Pill.
Many country music stations banned The Pill due to its subject matter. For the same reason, Lynn’s record label held it back for several years before releasing it in 1975.
Lynn stated that the song was about “love” at the time. “a husband and wife, not two unmarried people, so that’s not dirty,” Taste of Country report.
Despite the criticisms from preachers and radio stations, the song was a huge hit and sold 15,000 copies per day, People reportedAs well as reaching No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
Lynn continued to defend the song and even stated that she would quit Grand Ole Opry to avoid being banned from performing The Pill.
