We’re sick of Beckhams & ‘pointless’ plans for £12m mansion – they moved into OUR neighbourhood but always moan about it

David Beckham, the football legend who is renowned for his imposing greenhouses and allotments as well as a proposed new road has come under fire from neighbours.

Angry residents claim the ex-England, Manchester United and Real Madrid star is putting pressure on a local council to push through changes at his £12million Cotswolds home.

Victoria Beckham, 49, the wife of former Three Lions captain Beckham (48), has been given permission by planning authorities to construct a kitchen garden with a glasshouse. This will allow them to grow their own vegetables and fruit.

He’s asked permission for a second road to be built into his home in Great Tew village in Oxfordshire while the greenhouse was being constructed.

A man who did not want to be identified said that the Beckhams have received many applications since moving in.

It seems they never seem to be satisfied with their achievements, a trait that is admirable in some ways but should not come at the cost of the local community.

A long-time resident of the village suggested that a recent application could have been influenced by the nearby Soho Farmhouse, a posh resort.

He stated: “The Beckhams moaned about traffic for years on their way to Soho House, which passes by the Beckhams’ property.

It’s very busy all the time, but especially Fridays and Mondays. As it is only one track from the main road there can be congestion in front of their home.

The plan is to create a new road to bypass the traffic.

A local resident said, “If this had been any other family but the Beckhams’ it would have been dismissed ages ago. But they can afford expensive lawyers to exploit holes in the policies of the council.”

This type of thinking is not for ordinary people, who cannot afford to spend money on such luxury items.

One neighbor has officially objected the Beckhams new plans.

She sent a letter to West Oxfordshire District Council saying that it was a waste of resources.

There is an existing access road on the property, so why build another one just for a greenhouse?

It seems like a waste and is a pointless activity.

One neighbour who objected to the plans told the local authorities that he “was surprised they had not applied to install a funfair”.

Beckham, a British footballer and former England captain, has asked for permission to construct a new rural access road in order to connect the road leading to his house to unused farm tracks.

The council has given him permission to construct a new 25m-long road to redirect construction traffic.

In a planning bid, it was stated that: “This homeowner’s application is seeking planning permission for the creation of a raised kitchen garden along with a glasshouse.

The proposed kitchen garden has been laid out with raised beds in a symmetrical pattern around a central pathway.

The glasshouse has a traditional style, faces the south and overlooks the kitchen garden. It is framed by apple trees, and set in front of an established native mixed hedge.

David and Victoria often spend long weekends at their Cotswolds pile after snapping it up for £6million in 2017.

They have posted pictures on Instagram of their country retreat with Brooklyn, 20, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, who turned 12 this month.

Their £62million-plus property portfolio also includes a London townhouse, a Dubai beach property and a Miami penthouse.

Posh Becks and their neighbours had a history of planning disputes.

Back in 2020, the power couple found themselves in a dispute with one of their London acquaintances – with a local council even suggesting they meet up to resolve their differences.

David and Victoria ultimately won the battle against the neighbour, who bought a property near their £31million townhouse in west London.

A request for a complete overhaul of the house, with drastic changes to its interior and exterior as well as a slate-roof roof fitted with a rooflight was rejected.

The couple previously came under fire from locals in Oxfordshire after their own proposals to build a huge lake.

They ended up winning approval for the council, as long as they didn’t use motorised boats on it.
