Peters plays the role of Dahmer, a serial killer. This ten-part series is told mostly from the perspective the victims. It dives into the incompetence and apathy of the police that allowed the Wisconsin native on a multiyear killing spree. The series depicts at least 10 instances in which Dahmer almost was captured, but was ultimately released.

Murphy and Ian Brennan created the series and executive produce it alongside Alexis Martin Woodall and Eric Kovtun. Janet Mock and Carl Franklin also produced it.
