Before Walker The first episode of the series aired on The CW. Early footage revealed that Jared Padalecki’s series was about a Texas Ranger grieving the loss and his journey to justice. Cordell started to meet new people in season two, with his longtime friend Geri and Twyla. It seems that Cordell is still holding back when it comes his love life. The first episode of Season 3 is almost here “struggles,” however, Walker showrunner Anna Fricke mentioned that it’s all part of his journey — even if she even pissed her own mom off in the process.
Anna Fricke, showrunner, spoke out about the possibility of Cordell & Geri getting back together TVLine. While it would be nice to see the two of them together again, she mentioned that it’s going to take some time as Cordell is still healing from losing his wife. Even though she was criticized by her mom for the events of last season, she defends it. WalkerYou can be creative.
My mother was upset that he tried to continue his journey. [with Twyla]. That got me an earful. I feel bad saying that I’m always trying to thwart [Walker and Geri]. I’m not. Walker and Geri are both people I truly believe in, and they should be able to work together. And I also think that, originally and ultimately, Walker’s origin story, at least as we know him, is as a widow, a man who’s grieving. We can’t lose sight of that, that he doesn’t just bounce back right away. This is a man who suffered great loss in his life, his children suffered great loss, and so it’s going to take a while for him to become the person I think he needs to become to really let love in.
Fricke may have had the need to defend her move to her mother, but it is understandable. It’s understandable that Cordell will take some time to fully comprehend the situation. “let love in.” The whole premise of the series was about this widower who tried to solve his wife’s murder, how he was grieving and how his whole family was grieving. We did not see him dating, but it was good to see him take the time to decide what he wants.
Cordell also has bigger concerns for Season 3. The Season 2 finale ended with Cordell going missing. He was just a few minutes away from normal and found himself unconscious in a van. Following the finale, Anna Fricke teased Cordell’s fate and hinted at something from his past haunting him. Fans will find out what that is and how it impacts him moving forward when Season 3 premieres.
It’s hard to tell how the story will continue to address Cordell’s past, though I’m personally hoping we’ll see his wife again. In fact, Jared Padalecki’s IRL wife Genevieve portrays his character’s late wife, and bringing her back in could help him reminisce and get to a point where he is “becoming the person”He has to be for him to succeed. “let love in” again. There’s so much to consider script-wise, especially with network TV just getting started or about to get back on track. Perhaps her mom should give her some slack.
