Viaplay Behind Emelie Schepp ‘Jana – Marked For Life’Adaptation

EXCLUSIVE:Felix Herngren is the Oscar-nominated writer and director. The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Outside the Window and Disappeared, is directing a Viaplay adaptation of Emelie Schepp’s novel Jana – Marked for LifeErik Barmack, exec producing with the other executives.

Herngren is pairing with Henrik Björn (Jordskott) The six-part adaptation tells Jana Berzelius’ story as a former child soldier and public prosecutor.

Jana instantly recognizes something about the scarred body of the main suspect during an investigation into the murder a senior official at the Swedish Migration Agency. Jana must first find the killer in order to learn about her past traumas. Viaplay says that the book was sold in over 3M copies in 30 different countries.

Wild Sheep Content’s Barmack, a former high-profile Netflix International senior exec, is exec producing alongside Sussan Treschow, Elin Kvist, Martin Rea and Lotta Dolk.

“There are good reasons why Emelie Schepp has been named Sweden’s top thriller writer three years in a row,” said Filippa Wallestam, Viaplay’s Group Chief Content Officer. “Her stories are taut and unsettling, and Jana is an intriguing character.”
