Universal Orlando Resort has removed Shrek 4-D, but the Shrek franchise continues to thrive inside the parks. Donkey is still there, and Donkey is still talking smack to guests. Donkey went on a date with someone last week. Minnie Mouse ears were worn inside Universal. And now he’s back at at as the recently infamous Figment popcorn bucket made a trip to the park and Donkey was more than a little offended.
Last week, Epcot was packed with people who waited in line for hours to get into the queue. A popcorn bucket in the form of FigmentThe cute purple dragon that appears in Journey Into Imagination. One of those who got that bucket. TikTok’s teacuptravelcoThe bucket was then taken to Universal Orlando Resort. Donkey and Princess Fiona took a picture together with the bucket. This person clearly wants to troll Donkey. Donkey’s whole schtick is that he roasts the people he talks to a little bit, and so the question was not if Donkey would slam Figment, but how. Still, it’s all pretty funny, and Donkey admits that really he’s just a little jealous because nobody has made a popcorn bucket of him. And honestly, why hasn’t that happened?
To be fair, it’s quite a lot of fun. It’s been reported that the lines at Epcot to get this popcorn bucket were As much as seven hours and that’s pretty wild. To stand in such a line, you must want something really bad. While there were many willing people to do it, there were also many who thought it was crazy.
Donkey is the voice of Universal Orlando Resort in these days. Official resort Twitter account Disney throws a lot at Disney, so really Donkey is just doing what’s expected of him. It’s one of the things about Donkey that stands out. Unlike a lot of theme park attractions that try to make you feel like you have entered their world, Donkey is very aware that he’s inside a theme park and that there’s another one not too far away. One wonders what Donkey’s voice is like when he tweets.
While the Shrek 4D is now closed after a two decade run, Donkey is still there and he’s remained quite popular with guests. It is likely that it will be so. Whatever happens in the spaceDonkey may be able to stay in the area where the film ran for the future. Donkey and his popcorn buckets will still be able to have lots of fun.
