The Tragic End of Selena Quintanilla
Grammy Award-winning singer Selena Quintanilla was murdered in Texas at the age of 23. Her family discovered that Saldívar was embezzling money from both the singer’s fan club and boutiques, which led to her being fired. Selena agreed to meet Saldívar at a Days Inn motel in Corpus Christi on March 31, 1995, to retrieve financial records Saldívar had been refusing to turn over. Saldívar reportedly took a gun from her purse and shot the singer, causing her to later die at Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital from blood loss and cardiac arrest.

Yolanda Saldívar will be eligible for parole on March 20, 2025. While serving her sentence, Yolanda took part in a docuseries about Selena’s murder where she discussed her working relationship and friendship with Selena. The upcoming Oxygen docuseries promises to share never-before-seen documents and recordings. Yolanda’s family hopes that this new information will shed light on the tragedy. “Selena & Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them” will air in two parts beginning on February 17, 2024 at 8 pm.
