Ryan Murphy’s DAHMER: Monster — The Jeffrey Dahmer StoryIt has almost become one of the most popular Netflix movies of all time. The biggest. The writer, director and producer of the new series has held the #1 spot on Netflix’s global Top 10 List for three weeks. Tuesday’s data release from the streamer also reveals something else about this 10-episode Netflix release — which revisits the crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer, a serial killer who also cannibalized and dismembered his victims.

So many people have now binged the series that it’s put Murphy into rare company. His DahmerIt is also the #1 Netflix release of all-time.
Netflix Top 10 (October 3-10, 2009)
The new data for the TV-focused Netflix Top 10 chart (One of the four global chartsThe streamer updates (each week) show that DahmerThe 7-day period ended October 9 and attracted more than 205 million viewers. The show has so far earned more than 701 million hours of viewingSince its debut on September 21, 2017. And that’s enough to make it one of the streaming giant’s biggest shows of all time.
DahmerCurrent rank is #2 on the Netflix all time Top 10 Chart, which ranks shows based upon the total number of hours they have been viewed over the first 28 days. So far, it’s bigger than everything else on Netflix except Season 4 of Stranger ThingsThe company earned more than 1.33 billion hours of viewershipwithin the first 28 days of service.

And it doesn’t stop there. This week: DahmerThe series is also a Netflix Top 10 Show in a Staggering 10 91 Countries around the World.
“Between 1978 and 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer gruesomely took the lives of seventeen innocent victims,” Netflix’s synopsis explains. “DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is a series that exposes these unconscionable crimes, centered around the underserved victims and their communities impacted by the systemic racism and institutional failures of the police that allowed one of America’s most notorious serial killers to continue his murderous spree in plain sight for over a decade.”
This is not, however, to say that universal approval can be achieved by the show’s popularity.

Despite such reactions, Ryan Murphy Productions has a Twitter account. couldn’t resist taking a victory lapTuesday: “DAHMER — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has amassed 701.3M total hours viewed in just three weeks, making it Netflix’s second most popular English-language series of all time.”
