The flight attendant will show you the button that you should never press during takeoff

An ex-flight attendant revealed the worst thing passengers do on planes.

Kat Kamalani has become a social media celebrity for sharing the secrets of being part the flight crew on social media. She explained why it is important to avoid pressing the call button.

She explained it to her 745k fans TikTok:

“It is a safety concern for us and could cause injury.

“So we’re going to go back to our seats if you have hit the tarmac from the road.

“If we hit this while we’re going up or down in an aircraft, and we land, we won’t even get to the light; we will find it afterward.

“But don’t press this button if your flight attendant needs a barf bag or blanket or water, headphones, food, or any other items. Your flight attendant won’t be happy.

Some people disagreed with the idea and felt it was too harsh. One person wrote: “It’s there for me to get assistance – I’m not really concerned if they like it or not.”

Another person stated: “We literally pay for our ticket and the services and the attendant must put in the work.”

Someone else asked: “I literally was about to puke all over the sea with motion sickness so I had to press the button. What else are people supposed to do?”

Kat was defended by others, however – one person stated: “I feel a lot of people missed the point. She’s not saying don’t hit it, she’s saying don’t hit it to ask for stuff during landing or take off.”

An additional person was added: “My mom told us don’t ever push that button for any reason. My mom was a flight attendant and until I became one, I now understand why.”

Kat is not alone. In 2018, Steve Bazer (a captain for a large US airline) explained that it interferes with the cabin service of the pilots and flight attendants if the incident occurs within the first hour and half or last hour of long flights.

“They are generally in the aisle with their carts, and must discontinue service and stow their cart to reach you [so] it then depends on the nature of the reason you called them.”

He also added: “Bottom line, call if it’s something important and they’ll understand. Call about something totally selfish or trivial more than once, and you might be subject to being ignored by them and despised by every other passenger on the plane.”

Kat has previously shared other facts about flying, including middle-row passengers being “both armrests”.

These are the flying etiquette rules.
