Authorities say four men from Oklahoma went on a bicycle ride Sunday. They have not been heard from or seen since.
After their close friends left at 8 p.m. on Sunday, their families reported them missing Monday. Police said that their phones went straight to voice mail and calls to their cell phones led to the police reporting that they were still in contact with each other.
Okmulgee’s police chief, located 40 miles away from Tulsa said he has never witnessed a case in which four people have disappeared at the same time.
“I can’t make sense of the actual set of circumstances because it is so unusual,”Chief Joe Prentice spoke to local reporters.
“At this point, the evidence tells me I have four missing adults. I have no evidence there’s any violence involved at this point, we always consider that a possibility in any missing persons case and we’re not discounting that possibility,” Prentice said, but investigators have not identified any person of interest, he added.
The missing men were identified as Mark Chastain, 32; Billy Chastain, 30; Mike Sparks, 32; and Alex Stevens, 29.
“Someone out there knows something. I don’t care if it’s good or bad please just come forward. These men have families,” Mark Chastain’s wife, Jessica, told a local station.
According to police, the men were seen at a gas station and two salvage yards. Prentice stated that one of the men’s phones died or was disabled at one of the junkyards.
According to the chief, investigators received reports that the men were being found, but they could not confirm them.
Friday saw officers begin culling surveillance video and tracking GPS data.
