HITC addresses why The Chi season 6 episode 6 won’t be premiering a week after the previous episode, explaining the part 2 situation and whether fans can expect the series to return this year.
Created by Lena Waithe, The Chi began airing on Showtime in 2018 and immediately swept up audiences with its South Side of Chicago-set American drama. We were welcomed back to the neighborhood for new installments in August 2023, with some opting to stream them on Paramount+. The Chi season 6 episode 9 arrives with part 2
There will be an episode 9 of The Chi season 6 but fans are in for a rather lengthy delay.
Episode 8 hit Paramount+ on Friday, September 22nd 2023 with Showtime airing the installment on Sunday, September 24th at 9 pm ET. However, the episode marks the ending of season 6 part 1.
That’s right, the sixth season has been split into two parts. Although there’s no release date just yet, it’s already been announced that part 2 will invite audiences back into the fold in 2024.
With that in mind, episode 9 won’t arrive for at least the next few months.
‘It’s only a mid-season break’

‘It was wonderful and I’m honored’
The mid-season finale marks the exit of Alex R. Hibbert’s Kevin Williams and it’s an emotional ending to his arc.
“I worked with Alex a number of times when he was younger and now, here he is this young man, and it was just wonderful to be a part of it,” episode 8 director Rashaad Ernesto Green recently shared in an interview.
“After shooting certain scenes there were lots of hugs and lots of tears and lots of cupcakes and delicious treats from various cast and crew to just enjoy that moment. He’s been such a vital part of the family.”
He added: “It was wonderful and I’m honored to have been the director to have that final moment with Alex.”
The Chi season 6 part 2 will premiere on Showtime in 2024.
