AsPage Sixreported from the documentary, out on November 4, Selena Gomez had a mental breakdown during her “Revival”Tour in 2016. Theresa Gomez, Gomez’s assistant at the time described how it felt to see Gomez experience this for the Apple TV+ documentary. “At one point, she’s like, ‘I don’t want to be alive right now. I don’t want to live,'”She spoke. “And I’m like, ‘Wait, what?’ It was one of those moments where you look in her eyes, and there’s nothing there. It was just pitch black. It’s so scary.”Gomez stated in the doctor that she did not want to go to a mental hospital. However, the alternative was worse.

Gomez toldRolling Stonethat she started to hear voices in 2018, leading to an episode of psychosis she doesn’t remember much of. Gomez was paranoid and unrecognizable to her friends. The doctor diagnosed her with bipolar disorder and she was transferred to another facility. Rolling Stone reported that her medication to manage her bipolar disorder was reduced to just two while she was there. However, she is unlikely to be able carry biological children because of her two daily medications. “That’s a very big, big, present thing in my life,”She spoke about her desire to become a mother. Gomez smiled and said, “However I’m meant to have them, I will.”
