Fans of Deadpool began to question the fate of their fourth-wall-breaking hero as soon as Disney announced 21st Century Fox’s acquisition. Before long, Disney and Marvel Studios confirmed that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool would return, and that he would storm the MCU. Reynolds announced recently the release date. Deadpool 3Disney has since delayed the release of Deadpool 2, but it turns out there’s another Deadpool movie that is Christmas-themed that may never be produced.
Recent interview with The Big IssueRyan Reynolds announced the unexpected news.
“I would love to see a song and dance number in aDeadpoolmovie,”Reynolds spoke to the publication. “Four years ago [Deadpoolco-writers] Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and I wrote a Christmas movie starringDeadpool. But it got lost in the shuffle of Disney acquiring Fox and it never got made. Maybe one day we’ll get to make that movie. It’s not a musical, but it’s a fullDeadpoolChristmas movie. So one day.”
Its success at the box-office was proof enough that it was a hit. DeadpoolThe acquisition would see the character return in some form to theaters. Marvel would have the task of incorporating the character into its cinematic universe. Fans were aware that this would take some time. They didn’t know that Reynolds and his company had created another. Deadpool movie. Because of the timing, they likely knew about the Disney deal.
Perhaps Reynolds will share more details in the future, but the fact that he didn’t might be a good sign. If he was certain the movie would never get made, he’d probably be more willing to share some plot points. He and Wernick might be able to rework the story into a Special Presentation. This would be similar to the One-Act Wonder. Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
