Ministers want everyone to have their boosters sooner to avoid any further restrictions.

Due to the arrival of the super strain, masks have been worn again and travel restrictions changed.

Regular Brits are being trained to administer the vaccines to prevent any new infections.

This will expedite the rollout, and allow more jabs into more arms.

Professor Adam Finn, a member the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisations (JCVI), stated that the coronavirus vaccination program was approved. “is all about speed”.

BBC Breakfast, he said: “So the second challenge is going to be the logistics for actually delivering so large vaccine in such a short period of time. It’s also important that people come forward to receive those jabs early so that they can build that extra immunity that’s necessary to ensure that we are protected against the new variant.

“So challenging month ahead for the NHS.”

He answered questions about current NHS pressures and said that “if you give someone double work to do they can’t do any other thing that they would have done.”

“We’re here in Bristol, where the scheme is actually recruiting people, training people to give vaccines to obtain extra hands, and not just retired healthcare staff but all members of society who are willing and capable to step forward.

“So there really is going to be a big build up to try and deliver this accelerated programme and I’m sure that is going on all over the country.”

This comes after 14 Omicron variant cases have been confirmed in the UK. Many more are likely to be confirmed in the future.

Millions of Brits will get their Covid booster jab early after just a three month gap – in a bid to turbo-charge the nation’s immunity.

Scientists from the Government have confirmed yesterday that an additional 13,000,000 over-18s will be eligible for a second shot before the year ends.

Experts believe that the UK will be able to cut the time between the first and third doses of the jab, which is currently six to three months, to allow it to take advantage of the Covid variant.

Kids aged 12 to 15 will also be offered a second dose of the vaccine, in an attempt to shore up the nation’s immunity in the face of the worrying new strain.

Sajid Javid, Health Secretary, spoke this afternoon “the NHS will be calling people forward at most appropriate time” – so although you may be eligible you cannot yet go online and book in if over-18.

The NHS will restrict access to older people and prioritize the vulnerable. This is to ensure that they have had an additional shot of Moderna or Pfizer before reaching out to younger Brits for an appointment.

Professor Jonathan Van-Tam described this variant as: “new kid on the block”Warning scientists around the globe were left worried by this warning.
