Phillip Schofield was almost tattooed by a famous actor while drunk with Holly Willoughby

They once turned up to present This Morning in the same clothes they’d worn the night before to collect a gong at the National Television Awards for Best Live Magazine Show.

The following year, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby decided that, instead of raising a glass or two and risking a hangover on air the next morning, they would get tattoos to celebrate that year’s NTA win.

They were then turned away by a tattoo parlour due to being too drunk.

Reminiscing recently, The Cube presenter Phil said: “Holly and I said that we were going to get tattoos, but we were told that we were too drunk to give proper consent and couldn’t get one.”

It was at that point that Bloodlands and Cold Feet actor James Nesbitt offered to step in and do their tattoos for them.

Recalling James’ enthusiasm, Phil said: “James Nesbitt said ‘if you can find ink and a needle, I’ll do it for you!”

Thankfully, no needles or ink could be found so James wasn’t able to tattoo the award-winning pair and as far as we know, Phil and Holly have yet to commemorate their many wins with a permanent reminder.

On Thursday’s episode of the show Holly, 40, and Phillip, 59, thanked viewers following their most recent TRIC Award.

The public voted for the show to win the gong. This is the second consecutive year that the ceremony was held at London’s Roundhouse.

After their TV Choice and NTA wins, the TRIC award was a double win for the show.
