Three months ago, experts received only two calls per month regarding the issue.

Parents are calling daily to ask for assistance with their children who have a vaping problem.

Professionals at the UK Addiction Treatment Group – who run seven rehab centres across the country – say they have witnessed a “marked rise” in calls about the problem.

The bosses believe that the government has made things worse by failing to ban disposable vapes earlier.

Last week, the English government announced that single-use vapes in sweet flavors and bright colors would be prohibited.

But UKAT’s Nuno Albuquerque said: “It is welcome but too little too late. They are already an established part of youth culture and there’s not enough regulation around their sale to under 18s.”

It is estimated that the number of those seeking help has increased by 50 per cent.

Nuno said: “It could be parents, but also youngsters seeking help. We have no doubt vaping will soon outstrip smoking.”
