THE New York Knicks have been dealt a cruel blow with the latest injury to Bojan Bogdanovic. The veteran small forward, 35, went down on Sunday during the Knicks’ 97-92 Game 4 First Round win against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Bojan Bogdanovic To Miss Remainder of Season Due to Surgery

Early in the second quarter, Bogdanovic and Nic Batum both chased a loose ball, with the latter losing his footing and appearing to fall directly onto the Croatia star’s lower left leg. After initially left writhing on the court in pain, he was eventually able to limp to the locker room. Unfortunately, that marked the end of Bogdanovic’s season. It was reported on Tuesday that he is set to have season-ending surgery on both his foot and wrist, according to The Athletics’ Shams Charania.

Fans Express Disappointment Over Bogdanovic’s Injury

Disappointed fans quickly shared their feelings on social media after the news was announced. “We can’t catch a break,” one comment read. “Wow that’s awful man,” said a second. “That’s a big blow for the Knicks,” another wrote. While a fourth added, “Prayers man I’ve never seen a team have this many injuries.”

Bogdanovic’s Impact on the New York Knicks

Ahead of Tuesday’s Game 5 112-106 loss, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau alluded to their long-standing injury issues when discussing Bogdanovic. “Obviously you hate to see anyone get hurt, but it’s been our reality all season,” he said.

Highlights of Bogdanovic’s Season with the New York Knicks

For Bogdanovic, this brings to an end a whirlwind season. After starting 27 games for the Detroit Pistons, he found himself traded to the Knicks in February along with Alec Burks. In exchange, the Pistons received Ryan Arcidiacono, Malachi Flynn, Evan Fournier, and Quentin Grimes. They also received two second-round picks. Bogdanovic went on to make 29 appearances, all off of the bench, for New York during the regular season.

During that span, he averaged 10.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.9 assists. In four Playoff appearances, Bogdanovic managed an average of 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists.
