Owen Wilson looks just like Bob Ross in Paint, but he plays the role of Carl Nargle.

Owen Wilson left his fans stunned with his Bob Ross-like appearance in Paint.

The 54-year-old actor has played many fan-favorite roles in movies like 2005’s Wedding Crashers, 2008’s Marley & Me, and 2011’s Midnight in Paris.

His latest starring role was opposite Jennifer Lopez in 2022’s Marry Me. Now, Owen is returning to acting in the role of a painter in Brit McAdams’ directorial project. But, unlike what fans think, he isn’t playing Bob Ross despite his character’s striking resemblance to the American painter and television presenter.

The first look for Owen’s new movie, Paint, is out now. The actor portrays Carl Nargle, a Vermont artist. The Joy of Painting host’s iconic hairstyle is visible on him.

People reports, IFC Films production’s synopsis says, Owen’s character “has it all: a signature perm, custom van, and fans hanging on his every stroke.”

For the unversed, Carl Margle isn’t a real painter but a fictional character in Paint. IFC Films introduces this character: “Who’s behind those happy little clouds? It’s Carl Nargle, Vermont’s No. 1 public access TV painter. Owen Wilson stars in PAINT, an off the (gallery) wall comedy coming to theaters in 2023!”

Fans react to Owen’s unique new look

On seeing the Owen’s look in the upcoming movie, many fans were convinced that he looked like Bob.

“For a moment I totally thought Owen Wilson was starring as Bob Ross in a biopic,” One fan wrote.

“Owen Wilson as Bob Ross?! Iconic,” Another confused fan commented.

Paint’s release date and cast

Paint will release in theaters on April 28, 2023.

Brit McAdams is the film’s director and writer. He has previously worked on films like Kat Williams: American Hustle and Triviatown.

People reports, Paint is based on The Black List 2010 screenplay. The star cast includes Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Lusia Strus, Stephen Root, Ciara Renée, and Lucy Freyer.
