Elon Musk’s Six Rules of “Insane Productivity” sent to all Twitter employees

Elon Musk is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX founder, so he doesn’t have much time for waste.

Musk is a big believer in productivity and has created a list of behavior he encourages others to adopt.

Musk has sent suggestions to improve productivity to Tesla staff and Twitter users.

These are six points he mentions.

1. Reduce the frequency of meetings

Musk says: “excessive meetings are the blight of big companies and almost always get worse over time.”

Musk suggests that meetings be less frequent unless there is an urgent matter.

2. Don’t attend meetings that don’t add value

Similar to rule 1, employees should be allowed to quit if they find they are unable to contribute to a meeting.

Communicating effectively means being clear about what you are saying. “don’t use acronyms or nonsense words for objects, software, or processes.”

4. Do not use “chain of command”Communicate

“Communication should travel via the shortest path necessary to get the job done,”Musk spoke to employees.

Musk feels it unnecessary for lower-level employees not to communicate with Musk directly, but through the chain.

“Any manager who attempts to enforce chain of command communication will soon find themselves working elsewhere,”He added.

5. Make use of common sense

It may seem obvious but some people need to be reminded to apply common sense in all situations.

Musk took as an example the following: “company rule”This would be “obviously ridiculous in a particular situation.”

6. Avoid big meetings

“Excessive meetings are the blight of big companies and almost always get worse over time. Please get [out] of all large meetings, unless you’re certain they are providing value to the whole audience, in which case keep them very short.”
