Sturgeon says that people can still enjoy a normal Christmas with their ‘hopes’ variant

Scotland’s First Minister stated that she “fervently hopes”The Omicron variant does not prohibit people from having a normal Christmas with their families and is not asking them to alter their festive plans.

She was asked whether people should delay their plans or make contingencies. “I’m not asking anybody today to put plans on hold”However, additional people might factor in contingencies. “all sorts of plans”.

At a briefing given by the Scottish Government about the new coronavirus type as six cases were confirmed north, she stated that the Scottish Government will keep people informed of any changes to their advice.

She replied, “I’m asking you not to change your plans. It’s only three weeks until Christmas, and I don’t want to be in a situation where I’m again discussing a new variant that poses risks. It is important to communicate any changes in our advice in a correct way.

“Individuals, human beings, will account for contingencies in all sorts of plans. I’m certain there will be many people who will be asking themselves, “If X happens, what should I do?”They will think about what happened, rather than what they planned to do.

“I cannot make that decision for everyone in this country… What I will do is share as much information as possible about the variant, as well as tell you when and how it changes. This is to ensure that people can make informed decisions about the choices they are making. This is my view.

“Standing here right now I still hope, really fervently hope, to be having a normal Christmas with my family. Can I say that in a 100% sense? No, but that’s what I hope and I think that’s what we should be all be hopeful of as we learn more about this variant.”
