North American Theatre Releases Bi Gan’s “A Short Story”

Chinese filmmaker Bi GanThe best-known feature of his single-take feature is. “Long Day’s Journey Into Night”Has seen his “A Short Story”Added by Kino LorberNorth American distribution. This fairy tale tells the story of man and cat. The film was premiered in competition at 2022 Cannes Film Festival. Kino Lorber hopes to qualify “A Short Story”For the 96th Academy Awards, a theatrical re-release and theatrical theatrical presentation of it will be done in 2023. “Long Day’s Journey Into Night.” “Kino Lorber rarely acquires short films, but Bi Gan has packed more cinematic delight into the fifteen minutes of ‘A Short Story’ than many feature length films deliver in two hours,” said Kino Lorber SVP Wendy Lidell. QUEEN OF QEENSLAND

Regional film support organization Screen QueenslandHas appointed veteran executive Courtney Gibson as the organization’s CEO, with effect from Monday. Gibson previously held similar positions at Screen NSW, South Australian Film Corporation and other organizations. Other roles include those as executive head content creation and head arts, entertainment, and comedy at ABC TV.

Filming in the state is currently underway on Brouhaha Entertainment’s adaptation of “Boy Swallows Universe” for Netflix; Disney+ sci-fi series “Nautilus”; Legendary Pictures’ “Godzilla vs Kong” sequel; Bunya Productions’ “Limbo” series for ABC TV; and action-thriller “Land of Bad,” starring Russell Crowe and Liam Hemsworth.

TRAINING DAYS


Netflix Are you interested in partnering with Saudi ArabiaStudio for production-based training SPT (Studio Production Training) run by rising young Saudi producer Hajar Alnaim, to launch “Below The Line KSA,”A program to help 15 young Saudi talents develop production skills through workshops and on-set training.

This program is unique in Saudi Arabia and provides access to practical and vocational training that is inspired by international best practices. It is “will enable up-and-coming filmmakers in Saudi to break into the industry and generate a qualified network of talent for the local film industry,”According to a Netflix statement.

“Below The Line KSA”The rollout of the project is happening in two phases. The first phase will begin in November and include a 10-day workshop on crafts. The second phase, which will be a 10-day workshop on crafts, will take place in January. It will focus on the roles of assistant directors, line producers, and production managers. A select group of candidates will be offered the chance to join a Netflix production.

SPICES TO SELL


Zee Plus, the co-production & development arm of Zee Entertainment Enterprises LtdIt has pre-sold its regional cooking series, titled “The Spice Trails: Latin America”Australian public broadcaster SBS Food Channel. The show, which is currently in post-production is being made in partnership with Mexico’s TelevisaUnivision. The 12-part series, which was shot in 4K Ultra HD, follows the search for the herbs and spices used in the region. SBS will broadcast the series in 2023. The series is expected to be available in November. Zee will develop additional versions like “The Spice Trails – Asia, Middle East, and Africa.”
