Separately, Russia has also blocked certain parts of the internet within the country. This means that many Russians are unable to access the internet. Winter on FireEven though the whole documentary can be streamed for free on YouTube, it is not available in full. Anyone can view the entire documentary online for free. The documentary will help you understand where Ukraine’s desire for freedom comes from and what kind of people are fighting Putin’s army.

The development of the war

Russia invaded Ukraine in February 24, hoping to conquer the country it has been threatening for many years. The West had known for months that the Russia-Ukraine war would be imminent. And many expected the Russian army to decimate Ukraine’s defenses.

But Russia’s campaign failed from the start, and the Netflix Winter on FireThis documentary is eye-opening. It showcases the determination that drives Ukraine to fight against Russia.

What the world wasn’t necessarily ready for was a war that would stream live on social media. From the first day of combat, we’ve witnessed the horrors of the war in real-time as they happened. We saw the courage and resilience of both the Ukrainian army, and regular Ukrainian citizens, who took to arms to defend their lands.

We also saw the ensuing Russian attacks against civilians.

The west united around Ukraine and sent a strong message to Russia. Within days, the Russian economy was crippled by severe economic sanctions. This included direct actions from the Russian government, as well as international companies that have stopped doing business with Russia. Netflix is one example.

Nevertheless, Ukraine received more supplies from other countries, including weapons that could stop helicopters and tanks. Assuming the Ukrainian farmers don’t get to them first.

As we have explained, the Winter on FireThis documentary outlines the Ukrainian revolution in late 2014 and early 2015, as well as its aftermath. Also known by the Maidan Revolution, the movement represents the start of Ukraine’s fight for freedom. For more than 90 days, people marched in protest against the pro-Russian government of Viktor Yanukovych, then-Ukrainian president.

Protesters began gathering in Kyiv after Yanukovych’s administration decided to move closer to Russia and halted negotiations with the European Union. That wasn’t the decision people wanted from the administration.

Although it started out as peaceful revolution, it quickly escalated into a major fight with the police. Over 90 days of conflict, more than 100 protestors were killed during clashes between police and protestors.

Netflix’s Winter on FireThe entire Maidan Revolution is documented in detail. It shows how the conflict escalated each day. For months, the prorussian government attempted to disband the movement but was unable to stop the violence against unarmed protestors. The police eventually started using live ammunition.

Yanukovych was forced to flee the country, and the revolution won. A few months later, Putin invaded Crimea and fighting broke out in eastern Ukraine. The 2022 Russia-Ukraine follows all of that.
