NCIS: LA Boss Discusses Callen and Anna's Wedding Planning, and Why It's So Complex

The premiere of NCIS: LA’s 14th season is almost here, and wedding bells will be ringing. The CBS procedural ended with the 13th season finale. Callen proposed to Anna at the beach in front their friends. This was one of the sweetest moments on the show. The couple will have to deal with both work and their nuptials in the next season. Both will be complicated.

Callen and Anna (or Callanna) have been together since the 8th season of Season 8. NCIS: Los Angeles, This wedding was a long-awaited event. There are always complications in wedding planning. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill tells TVLineCallen isn’t exactly a wedding guy and planning isn’t necessarily one of his strengths.

Callen is trying embrace the idea of a wedding. This is not something Callen is naturally good at. He’s looking at wedding venues, which is not a strong suit for him. Of course, he wants to elope. But Arkady, Vyto Ruginis, would prefer a wedding where Dr. Zhivago is recreated with real snow. So they have a little disconnect in terms of what this wedding’s going to look like.

It’s not surprising to see that he isn’t into wedding planning, as is the case with a lot of couples. The fact that he wants to elope and not do anything big could put some tension on the relationship, but it’s nothing the duo can’t handle. There are other things they need to think about before the big day.

While Callen and Anna have been married for many years, this will be a major change for them. R. Scott Gemmill explained that Season 14 will be a continuous story for Callen and how he’s dealing with the wedding and this life-changing adventure:

Callen’s thoughts about the wedding are a continuing story. This is somebody, obviously, who’s been the typical lone wolf, so it’s a big thing, trying to settle down and be in one place, and open up his life to somebody.

The most important thing about the wedding is who will be there. Callen is finding it difficult to adjust to these changes and the anxiety will only increase as the couple prepares the guest list. Gemmill has previously explained that Linda Hunt’s Hetty would have to be at the Callanna wedding, but conflict may arise:

He has unfinished business, and wouldn’t want to get married without Hetty (Linda Hunt) present. We don’t see that [conflict]It plays in the first episode but not over the next few episodes.

Linda Hunt has always been a priority. NCIS: LA, Hetty is so beloved because of her love for the character. With how big of a role she plays in Callen’s life, it only makes sense for her to be there on his big day. Perhaps she will even walk him down that aisle. It sounds like Hetty’s return will definitely happen; it’s just a matter of when and how.

Fans have another big event in the coming season, aside from the Callanna wedding. Three-way NCIS Crossover finally happens across the board NCIS, LA, And Hawai’i. These episodes will be broadcast sometime in January 2023. It is possible that the final parts of their respective season could kick off.

It’s unknown when in the season Callen and Anna will get married, but it looks like fans will be able to look forward to all of their wedding planning and jitters, throughout Season 14. This will undoubtedly make the wedding more real and exciting for both the couple, and for fans who have waited so long for it.

NCIS: LA Season 14 will premiere on CBS Sunday, October 9, at 10 p.m. ET. Check out CinemaBlend’s 2022 TV schedule to see what else to look forward to.
