8 Mile actor Nashawn Breedlove has reportedly died in 2023. The star’s character played rapper Lotto in the film who went face to face against Eminem in a rap battle.

Hip-hop fans know Eminem‘s 2002 film 8 Mile all too well. The film starred the Kamikaze rapper in the lead alongside famous actors like the late Brittany Murphy, Taryn Manning, Anthony Mackie, and more. However, among the 8 Mile star cast was Nashawn Breedlove who played rapper Lotto. Sadly a famous social media personality’s recent Instagram post reported that Nashawn Breedlove has passed away.

Lotto actor Nashawn Breedlove from 8 Mile movie reportedly dies

Renowned American hip-hop artist Mickey Factz took to his Instagram on Monday, September 25. In his post, the star added a clip of Nashawn from the 8 Mile film. The clip shows his character rapper Lotto taking his turn and rapping in front of a live audience.

The caption read, “RIP to one of the few emcee’s to beat Eminem… Lotto from 8 Mile. Who’s friends lovingly called him, OX. You will be missed for your tenacity and aggressiveness.”

At the time of writing Nashawn’s family members or his management have not released a statement regarding his reported death. HipHopDX notes that rapper Daylyt also mourned the late actor in his comment under Mickey’s post, “The first MC who was ever robbed of his win in a rap battle! Rip Lotto.” The outlet reports that artists like Pete Rock, Onyx, and Grafh also reacted to Nashawn’s passing.

8 Mile role movie role explored

Nashawn’s character Lotto’s first appearance in the film is alongside his crew. They are all chanting “choke” in front of Eminem’s B-Rabbit’s crew.

The character is seen again when his crew is in a Parking Lot as they are heckling other rappers. He also appears next to Anthony Mackie’s Papa Doc and his girlfriend. Lotto also gets into physical fights with Eminem’s B-Rabbit.

In his final rap battle with Eminem, Nashawn’s Lotto is seen rocking a white tank top and braids. He roasts Eminem with stinging bars like “I feel bad I gotta murder that dude from ‘Leave It to Beaver.’

After his 8-mile role, the actor and musician created a rap career for himself. He famously appeared on the soundtrack to Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and DJ Pooh’s 2001 film The Wash. His rap name was Ox.

Fans mourn the artist

“Damn literally was telling people he actually won the battle last week RIP,” one fan wrote on Reddit.

“Damn I was just watching these like two days ago. R.I.P. Ox, theirs was my favorite battle cuz I thought he sounded the most competent goin against Em,” another fan said.
