Authorities said that a gunman opened fire at a Colorado Springs LGBTQ club on Saturday night. He killed five people and injured 18 others.
According to Lt. Pamela Castro from the Colorado Springs Police Department, an unknown suspect was also injured. He is currently in custody and being treated at an area medical center.
At 11:57 p.m., police received a report from Club Q about an active shooter. “Drag Diva Drag Show”Saturday night. The scene was attended to by at least 11 ambulances. Victims were then transported to various local hospitals.

Local authorities and the FBI are still investigating the shooting. No motive has been revealed. But the attack comes amid a surge of anti-LGBTQ hate crimes since the deadly massacre at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub that killed 49 people in 2016.
Colorado Springs is about 70 miles from Denver and home to the U.S. Air Force.
