Financial expert Martin Lewis has encouraged shoppers to head to the supermarket and pick up a £1 packet of crisps to save money.

Martin explained that buying the cheap snack could save you money on your next restaurant date, reports the Express.
Apparently, shoppers can get £5 off a number of restaurants and takeaways by picking up a pack of crisps – score!
Martin explained: “If you buy a £1 bag of these Walkers Taste Icons crisps, then there’s a QR code on the back that you can go online and it gives you £5 off when you spend £20 or more at local restaurants and takeaways.
“You can redeem on food or soft drinks so it’s a good way to support your local food emporium.”
The brand new crisps have flavours inspired by UK restaurant favourites including madras curry, Thai green curry, fish and chips and even chicken burrito.
So, we’re dying to try them out anyway.

As a sweet bonus the packets give you a discount at a whopping 3,000 restaurants – so you’ll be spoilt for choice.
And, they’re not all chains either as plenty of independent foodie hot spots have signed up to the deal.

Walkers introduced the discount to help local eateries that have persevered through the hunger pandemic.

To claim the handy discount, shoppers need to buy a pack, go to www.walkers.co.uk/local and select a participating local restaurant near them.
The QR code will be given to the customer and can be used at any local restaurant.
Be aware that the promotion is only valid for a limited time, and will end on February 15, 2022.
And, you can’t apply the discount to alcohol – food and soft drinks only. Enjoy!
