Magnum P.I’s Jay Hernandez On Having ‘Backroom Conversations’NBC Saves the Show and Keeps The Big News From Co-Stars

Filming on Magnum P.’s fifth season began at the beginning of October, and that fact makes the show’s eventual return feel all the more real. NBC saved the canceled CBS drama following fans’ rally to save Magnum,Jay Hernandez, star and producer of Jay Hernandez opens up about the “backroom conversations”It took place while the show was in limbo. He also spoke out about how he kept the news from his costars during that time.

These are the following Magnum P.’s cancellation in May, reports subsequently suggested that the show could potentially be saved by another network or streaming platform, but it took a little over a month for NBC to seal the show’s return. Jay Hernandez spoke with Jay Hernandez about the cancellation. ETMentioning that he “was privy to those backroom conversations”Due to his producer status, he had no idea about its future. He apparently had to work very hard to keep his mouth shut.

I was aware of the things that were happening and I did not want to speak out. You don’t want people to be disappointed. It was clear that I needed to give the go-ahead. We can do it. Let’s see if we can make it happen. We did it over time but it was worth it.

It sounds as though it was a difficult task for the actor. There are ongoing campaigns to save. Magnum P.It seemed like good news would arrive sooner or later, but it was not. Producers can’t tell you anything until all papers have been signed and ink has dried. Sometimes, though, you will need to wait for an official release. Kudos, the Bad MomsAlum for keeping things down while negotiations progressed.

Jay Hernandez seemed very hopeful during these conversations and it was difficult for him not to tell the rest of his cast what was going on behind closed doors. He mentions that while he didn’t fully tell his co-stars what was going on, he did try to find ways around the shroud of secrecy:

I kinda fed them crumbs. Just, ‘Hey, sit down. Sit back, we got this.’ It’s funny. It’s gonna happen, I thought. It was a constant refrain. We eventually made it to the end, but it was a complicated route. So, I was right at season’s end.

He must have felt gratified to be able tell his castmates about NBC. His co-stars must have been happier than he when they found out what was going to be happy. Jay Hernandez shared a sweet message about Jay’s save around that time, noting that so many people had worked hard to make it possible.

Even though Season 5 has already ended won’t be airing until 2023 and will be shorter than previous seasons, it’s honestly just good to know that Magnum and his team will indeed be back on our screens in the immediate future. I am interested to see what the producers do with the show, especially as it is moving to a new network. Jay Hernandez and his crew want to preserve the show’s popularity, so it’s reasonable to assume. The thing fans loved about the show was Magnum P. Friday content by Hernandez. Should he return to the show, he will be able share many BTS secrets with viewers.
