According to reports, the crash killed two brothers many described as being inseparable. They had been having breakfast at the doughnut shop where they lived for decades.
Jose Linares and Alfredo Linares were having a Wednesday breakfast at Miss Donuts in Beverlywood. This was part of their daily routine before heading to work. When the unthinkable happened, it is reported. People magazine.
According to Los Angeles Fire Department, the victims were reportedly landscapers and were hit and killed by a vehicle shortly after 5:05 a.m.
According to family, a third brother was present with them at time of crash and survived. ABC 7 reported.
Sergio Linares the nephew of victims, said to ABC7 that the brothers were in their mid 70s.
“They weren’t married, they had no kids, they lived together, and they took care of each other,” said Sergio Linares. “They were in their mid-70s, they loved what they did, they didn’t want to retire yet, they should’ve been living their life.”
ABC 7 reported that the owner of the doughnut shop stated that the brothers had just finished their breakfast before they left the store. ABC 7 also reported that the store owner stated that the brothers were loyal customers for more than 20 years.
Los Angeles Police Department stated that the driver did not leave the scene but was cooperating with investigators. They also confirmed that he was not under the influence.
Linares was launched in a GoFundMeContribute to funeral expenses by opening an account. Over $20,000 has already been raised from the $50,000 requested by the family.
“With heavy hearts we ask for any help, as we need to give a proper burial for 2 uncles. This is a very hard time for our family as a big part was taken from us. Alfredo & Jose were kind at heart and we’re always willing to help anybody in any situation. Any donation will help and appreciated,”Linares wrote.
