Lion and Leopard Cubs Recovered from Their Homes in Ukraine

After a crackdown in Ukraine on exotic pets, four cubs of lions and one black leopard cub were taken from their homes.

All were taken in by Odessa and Kyiv rescue groups and later transferred to a zoo at Poland.

According to the International Fund for Animal Welfare, 200 lions are currently living in private homes in Ukraine.

They’re vulnerable to the same wartime threat and conditions Ukrainians have been living under since the Russian invasion began in February.

All cubs were raised in captivity and can’t be released into the wild.

The IFAW has partnered with an American organization where the lion cubs can live out their lives safely.
