LeBron James, NBA superstar, has urged Elon Musk for an investigation into the’scary AF’ rise in racism. This seems to have been increasing since Musk’s takeover of the social networking site earlier this week.
After months of negotiations, the South African billionaire has now acquired Twitter. Musk wants to promote more free speech on Twitter and has fired many of Twitter’s top executives.
This encouragement of freedom of speech has led to an increase in racial insults, with the use the n-word reported to have risen by 500 per cent, as per TheWashington Post.
To respond to the story, 37-year old James, who plays for Los Angeles Lakers, tweeted Saturday: “I dont know Elon Musk and, tbh, I could care less who owns twitter. But I will say that if this is true, I hope he and his people take this very seriously because this is scary AF.”

The Space JamActor added: “So many damn unfit people saying hate speech is free speech.”
Musk has supported free speech but Musk sent a message to advertisers to assure them that Twitter would not become an ad-supported platform. “free-for-all hellscape.”
The SpaceX and Tesla founders wrote: “There is currently a great danger that social media will splinter into far right wing and far left wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.
“Traditional media have been consumed by the constant pursuit of clicks. They believe this is how they make money. But, it has also lost the opportunity to promote dialogue.
“That said, Twitter cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said without consequences! In addition to adhering to the laws of the land, our platform must be warm and welcoming to all, where you can choose your desired experience according to your preferences, just as you can choose, for example, to see movies or play video games ranging from all ages to mature.”
