Kansas Teacher asks her 5th-Grade students to be bridesmaids and groomsmen at her wedding

Teachers play an important role in students’ lives. But, often, their children have the same impact on their teachers. Kansas educator, Anita Johnson, loved the children in her class and included them in one her most important life milestones.

Alexandra Stamps and Mason McDowell, two teachers, met at a job fair. It was a surprise that the duo would be able to meet someone at a Wichita, Kansas job fair.

McDowell was captivated by Stamps’ beauty and they began a relationship after bumping into each other just a few weeks later. It was the beginning a wonderful love story.

Unexpected Questions for Her Students

McDowell and Stamps dated all through 2020. The following Spring, McDowell fell on his knees as tears ran down his face. Stamps immediately said yes, and she did something surprising in April 2021.

19 5th-graders were asked by the beloved teacher to be her bridesmaids or groomsmen at her wedding. Her fiancé did the same thing with his class, and together they invited 37 students to be part of their big day.

TikTok’s video received thousands of comments and millions upon millions of views. Stamps did not want her students to attend the wedding.

Joy erupted from the Class

The couple had been following the students’ journey for several months. ClipStamps revealed to her that she wondered when she would get engaged.

Stamps shared with her class another viral video. After she named each child individually and asked them to participate in her big day, the kids were intrigued and in awe. The boys shouted excitedly and the girls became emotional. The bride-to be Not noted:

“I love them and they’re part of my life. I want them to be up there with me because they’re my biggest fans.”

The students were excited

Though some people questioned her decision, others believed it to be a kind gesture. Many looked up to her because of it. She believed that they deserved to be with her. Khloe, one of her students. :

“I was so excited, and I couldn’t wait to just be there. I can already picture it.”

Giving Value to Their Pupils

Everybody at the Central Christian Church event was able to see the love between McDowell & Stamps. They also had the opportunity to put value on all the students they worked with every day. Stamps Share:

“The reason we wanted the kids involved was because we wanted to give them validation that they mean something to us. We wanted them to have something to look forward to, something to feel good about.”

It was a stunning wedding

Before asking her children to take part in her WeddingStamps asked their parents for permission. The idea was a hit with everyone.

The July wedding was attended by 170 people and was full of love and joy. Morilee, a bridal company that designed Stamps’ white gown, donated the mini bridesmaids’ dresses to the special ceremony.

Bella Veil Bridal provided a rental service that allowed the mini groomsmen to wear their dashing formal clothes. Stamps couldn’t have imagined a better day. She was thrilled to have the children with her.

The Online Response

Netizens were shocked by the teacher’s willingness to include her students. Many saw it as a special bond between Stamps’ students. Her actions inspired others and they pledged to follow her lead.
