2022’s SmileOne of the possibilities? best horror moviesRecent years. And if it’s not the best, it’s undoubtedly one of the most-talked-about. The Parker Finn-directed psychological horror movie became something of a phenomenon, and one of the most surprising surprises at the box offices. The movie centers on a psychiatrist, played by Sosie Bacon, as she begins to experience one terrifying encounter after another following her patient’s suicide. The movie is so popular that one cannot help but wonder if there will be a sequel. Parker Finn has some thoughts.

During an interview ComicBook.comParker Finn spoke out about how he did not expect such a high demand for the sequel. He also talked about the possibility that he could return to the world of Smile. The filmmaker explained that the movie was his original idea, but that it doesn’t mean he is against the idea of expanding the world he created.

I’m sure the prospect of unanswered questions will excite horror movie fans—especially those wondering about the fate of Rose’s cat, Mustache. Director says he has ideas but is not yet ready to share them. I guess we’ll have to wait for the theoretical. Smile 2To get the answers you need.

Parker Finn also talked about his anxiety regarding a sequel and the one thing that worries him. He stated that the biggest thing he wouldn’t want to do was repeat himself or go back to old ground. His words are these:

While I don’t want to do the exact same thing again, or repeat myself, I think there might be an exciting way for Smile to expand its reach. But, it would be surprising to see an audience with so many tricks.

It must be hard for filmmakers to approach sequels of popular films in fresh ways that won’t alienate audiences who loved whatever’s come before Still, this is an exciting update from the director, and I’m hopeful that a follow-up to his first blockbuster horror film will happen.
