Jackie Walorski, U.S. Rep. Killed in Car Crash At 58

Jackie Walorski, a congresswoman, was killed in a car accident Wednesday in Indiana.

The accident also claimed the deaths of three other people.

Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader, announced her death via Twitter.

According to local reports, the accident occurred near Nappanee. It involved two vehicles.

Local media reported that Emma Thomson, Walorski’s communications director, and Zachery Potts, a Republican county official were among the victims.

Walorski, 58, represented Indiana’s 2nd District. According to Website for her U.S. HouseShe was born in South Bend and raised there. Walorski served on both the House Ways and Means Committee and was also the ranking member on Subcommittee on Worker and Family Support and the House Ethics Committee.

According to Walorski’s Twitter account, the Congresswoman’s husband, Dean Swihart, was informed by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s office of her death earlier in the day.
