Kevin Costner met Christine Baumgartner for the first time in 2004, when he was a star of the TV series “Yellowstone” and the movie “Field of Dreams”. The actor was reluctant to add another child after marrying his wife Cindy Silva.
Baumgartner gave Costner an ultimatum that convinced him to start a family with her. The couple welcomed their first baby together three years after their wedding vows. They went on to welcome two other children later. Costner and Baumgartner were married for 18 years, so most assumed that things went well.

In April 2023 the facade began to fall, as the couple decided, out of nowhere, to split. Baumgartner reportedly initiated the split and listed irreconcilable difference as her cause. They would then file for divorce with each other in May. Costner’s rep confirms this news.
Complicated legal battles

While Baumgartner and his ex-wife fought over assets, there were reports that Baumgartner grew unhappy because of the divorce. Costner has a busy schedule. His wife looked after his children and house while he filmed in Montana.

Baumgartner, however, had different plans. The prenup stipulated that she must vacate her compound 30 days after the divorce. Both parties were in disagreement over the amount of child maintenance that was demanded by the mother. The two lawyers were able to reach an agreement but Baumgartner had claimed that she felt forced into signing the prenup.
