Inferior’ Amazon Prime App Nightmare: Why Members Say ‘I Absolutely Hate It’

Is Amazon Prime Losing its Luster? Subscribers Sound Off

Some Amazon Prime subscribers have been less than pleased with issues on the platform. Many Prime subscribers are sharing on social media platforms, like Reddit, their concerns with the app. Most recently, one user shared that the platform is “just such an inferior product.”

Issues with Advertisements on Amazon Prime Video

The user shared several reasons to back up their opinion, including one of the most controversial changes on the app: advertisements. Ever since Amazon introduced advertisements on its Video Platform in January, many have been canceling their subscriptions. Besides the fact that ads are incredibly inconvenient, users also need to pay an additional $2.99 per month if they want to go ad-free.

Technical Glitches and User Frustrations

Some Prime members have reported issues with the app itself. “You can’t pinch to zoom so lots of movies show up with two choices: an excessive black box or overly zoomed in.” Users have also complained about the app taking a long time to start playing when opened, much longer than any other streaming app they’ve used.

Mixed Reactions from Prime Subscribers

The post on Reddit garnered dozens of responses, with some users expressing their frustration. “I absolutely hate it and I really don’t care for the content,” one Reddit user shared in the comments. “Now that ads are mandatory it’s about as bad if not worse than YouTube,” another user remarked.

Amazon Prime Video and the Introduction of Ads

Prime Video recently became the latest streaming service to introduce ads onto its platform. The service now joins the other four most popular streaming sites in the US: Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, and Max. However, not all users agreed with the original Reddit thread and countered the argument.

The Future of Amazon Prime

While some users are considering canceling their subscriptions due to the introduction of ads, others argue that it’s a minor inconvenience considering the vast content available on the platform. Amazon Prime was launched in 2005 as an Amazon membership service offering free two-day shipping and has since grown into one of the largest companies in the world, now worth $1.8 trillion.
