Designing a house you will love is a difficult task.
One home expert revealed the seven home trends you should avoid, unless your goal is to have a tacky home.
According to property expert Thomas Goodman from MyJobQuote.co.ukThe first offender was matching flat-pack furniture.
The Language of the People Express. “Filling a bedroom with identical flatpacks is the best way to turn a boring room into a drab one.”
The lack of style and the flimsy design make flatpack furniture instantly recognisable.
The furniture is functional, but it does not contribute to interior design.
If you are on a budget, opt for used furniture with some personality rather than buying flat-pack furniture at a low price.
“Second-hand pieces are often even cheaper than flatpack pieces and will bring some personality to your indoor space.
“Plus, second-hand furniture tends to be much sturdier and more durable than flatpack furniture, which can often be very flimsy and may start to fall apart after a few short months of use.”
The housing expert says that rattan is good in small quantities, but if you use it too much, the furniture can appear cheap.
He recommended using the materials as accent pieces instead of a focal piece.
The home expert also recommended avoiding chevron patterning in your home.
He added: “Although it was once popular, it’s time to think about ditching this design if it’s present anywhere in your home.
“Instead, choose some less distracting patterns and designs, or simply go for a minimalistic, sleek look without incorporating any patterns.”
Your home will look shabby and old if you have outdated windows.
Replace your windows, but ensure they match the design of your exterior.
Although we love DIY projects, a lot of them can make the room appear cheap.
Thomas says that an unclean or damaged driveway will make it difficult for your house to look classy.
A housing expert advised that it would be best to clean the house for an instant boost.
The property expert said that you shouldn’t neglect your garden.
The expert says that it doesn’t matter how nice your home is, if you have a messy garden. It will impact the overall appearance of the house.
He continued: “If you own a lawn in front, make sure it is kept neat and tidy.” Outdoor lights can help to improve the appearance of the front garden at night.”
