Dr Deborah Lee revealed that if your dog sheds dandruff, it will end up on your mattress. Not only is this disgusting but dangerous.

When inhaled, pet dandruff is known to cause severe respiratory problems.

The Spring is the worst time for pet hair loss. It can cause allergies, dermatitis and other skin conditions.

It’s often incorrectly assumed that fur is the leading cause of these risks – but it’s actually the dead skin that sheds with the hair that causes serious health problems.

Dander is the medical term for tiny skin flakes shed by warm blooded creatures with fur, feathers, or hair.

Dr Lee said: “Pet dander is a common cause of allergy in children and adults.

“Encountering pet dander can cause allergic rhinitis, dermatitis, hives and asthma symptoms.

“When you breathe the animal dander particles into your lungs, your body’s immune cells recognise the dog or cat antigen as a foreign substance posing a threat to your health.

“As a result, an inflammatory reaction is initiated, and an antibody called Ig E is released.

“Cells called mast cells release histamine, which causes smooth muscle contraction, causing the airways to constrict, meaning you cannot get so much air into the lungs.”

Hertamine can also cause an increase in bronchial swelling and secretions, causing the usual asthma symptoms such as wheezing and chest tightness, and coughing.

As the seasons have changed, your pets may be shedding excess hair.

Around these seasons, dogs who shed regularly will switch from a heavy coat to a lighter one.

Recent Studies Have Affected the Business Environment Studying 68 % of pet owners allow dogs and cats into their bedrooms, with 30 % allowing them to sleep there.

In fact, 86% of the dogs tested positive and 32% were cats for Enterobacteriaceae in their footpads or fur.

Salmonella, E. Coli, and Shigella are all bacteria that can cause gastroenteritis.
