According to reports, the Queen was about to have Afternoon Tea at Sandringham but was stopped by the discovery that there wasn’t cake.

The royal was dressed in normal clothes with a headscarf. “Good heavens, you look just like the Queen.”

Her Majesty replied with her famous wit saying: “How reassuring.”

She chose tea cake and moved on.

Juliet Pannett, an artist who retold the story while painting at Balmoral Estate, said that she first heard it.

It’s not the first time someone hasn’t recognised the Queen.

Richard Griffin, a former royal protection officer, revealed that the Queen once walked near Balmoral wearing tweeds and a head scarf – she looked so different from her usual self that a group American tourists couldn’t recognize her.

Speak to The TimesRichard stated that the Queen wasn’t looking to expose herself at the time.

She accompanied the tourists when they asked if she lived in the area. She replied that she had a home nearby.

Her Maj replied slyly when they asked her if the Queen had ever met her. “No, but this policeman has,”pointing towards Mr Griffin

Richard, who has been working closely with the monarch over more than 30 year, stated that the group then moved on, not knowing who they’d just met.

The Queen is known for her low-profile lifestyle during her visits to Balmoral, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

She prefers to wear wellies and pared down clothes to replace the brightly-coloured outfits for which she’s known.

Robert Hardman, a biographer, says Her Majesty deliberately wears eye-catching colors during royal engagements.
