Although they were both strong at the beginning, Bertinelli as well as Van Halen suffered from their incessant partying. Both developed addictions and she felt alone in her relationship. “It made sense that I was angry,”Bertinelli confessed in her book: “Losing It.” She explained that. “It wasn’t one thing or another as much as it was everything together. There was a lot going on: Ed’s fights with Dave [David Lee Roth], Ed’s drinking and coke, his obsessive work habits.”
But their marriage was not all bad. Van Halen is actually credited by the star with helping her overcome an eating disorder and curbing her drug use.
