This is a decrease from 104,000 daily passengers, which affected hundreds of flights.

The company released a statement Monday stating that the move would “provide passengers with confidence ahead of their half-term getaways”.

Ross Baker, chief commercial officer at Heathrow, stated that “our primary concern is to ensure we provide our passengers with a reliable service when traveling.”

“That is why we introduced temporary capacity limitations in July, which have already helped with journeys during the summer vacation.

“We want to remove the cap as soon as possible, but we can only do so when we are confident that everyone operating at the airport has the resources to deliver the service our passengers deserve.”

The decision could cause significant disruptions into the autumn – coming off the back of a summer of hell at Britain’s airports.

Brits who travel abroad in the October half-term will be affected by this extension.

Affected passengers will not get any compensation as the cause of cancellation is legally beyond their airline’s control.

British Airways just recently resumed short-haul flight sales after being forced to suspend them by Heathrow passengers.

The UK flag carrier suspended the sale of journeys on July 30 in response, which was extended until today.

However, British Airways has since confirmed that the short-haul flights have resumed sales from today.

It’s not just BA either – Lufthansa also reduced their flight sales last month too.
