Royal commentators have suggested that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not have found their roasting at this year’s Emmys very funny, but claimed that this “comes with the territory” of their new celebrity lifestyle.
Relations between Meghan Markle and Harry have been strained since Harry left royal duties in March 2013.
The situation reached its peak during an interview with Oprah Winfrey in the USA, where the couple made a series of accusations against the institution.
The interview was nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Nonfiction Series or Special category. It did not win Stanley Tucci’s documentary, ‘Searching for Italy.’
This year’s ceremony were hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and the Sussexes were on the receiving end of a number of the night’s jibes.

He joked: “As great as The Crown is, it pales in comparison to the real monarchy.
“I mean, that Oprah interview with Prince Harry and Meghan, that was the real tea right there, wasn’t it?”
And although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t attend the ceremony, royal commentators have suggested that they wouldn’t have found these cheeky digs amusing.
Speaking on the Royally Us podcast, co-host Molly Mulshine claimed: “It’s an awards show, people get roasted, fair’s fair.

“I loved his joke about TikTok; that they’re going to need Archie to teach them TikTok dances.
“That’s how it is when you’re in the public eye I think.”
During the ceremony, Cedric joked that the royal couple’s son Archie, would need to teach them how to use social media.
“They need little Archie! Charles can’t dance, who else is going to teach them TikTok? I can just see it now, Archie with the Queen, like ‘come on Gammy’,” he laughed.
The podcast’s other presenter Christina Garibaldi was of the same view, saying: “I kind of agree, I don’t really think that they find a lot of this funny, but I mean that’s what kind of comes with the territory.

“Especially when you’re such big public figures.
“The Crown was also a big winner at the Emmys, Olivia Coleman won, so the royals are always taking over no matter where you go.”
“They are kind of shifting into that more celebrity lifestyle rather than royals.
“These deals are available for those who want to attend the awards shows and get book deals and Netflix offers.”
